Bursting out the Myths for being an Entrepreneur
Myths for being an Entrepreneur
When I was a kid my dream was to be a teacher, then i grew up a bit and i wanted to be a Dancer or a TV show host or a Researcher (because I was good at studies ;)). After finishing my graduation I decided to be an Entrepreneur as it was the new “cool” in the market.
After doing a lot of research, reading a lot of blogs about entrepreneurship and reading books telling stories of great businessmen and personally living the life of an entrepreneur, i have conquered few of the #Myths about being an #Entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurship: The very basic definition that comes to my mind is that it is an activity of setting up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. Also as per the current trend when you feel bored of working under someone, you start with your own business. But it is not that easy as it seems. It has several pros and cons.
So here are top 5 entrepreneurial myths that will burst your bubble!
1. I am my own boss
This is the very myth that drive people fancy about being an entrepreneur.
The reality is quite different. The entrepreneur is responsible to everything going around and hence answerable to everyone – employees, partners, buyers, customers, investors, board members, the earth, the universe!
2. I am going to earn a lot
A successful corporate job or a creative/new age career has equal probability for making big, to being an entrepreneur. Also success rate of a startup is very low. Be it any game, it is about playing it right!
3. I won’t have to worry about work-life balance – flexible lifestyle
Puff! For an entrepreneur work is life and life is work. A normal week usually consists of 7 days, no weekends, sleepless nights, hectic schedule, juggling between roles of a CEO to an Errand Boy!
Although it does offer you the relief of flexibility but it comes with whole lot of other pressures and responsibilities.
4. It will give me freedom
The sense of freedom is subjective to each individual. Just because you hate your job or you are stuck and don’t see your growth scale doesn’t mean choosing entrepreneurship will solve your problems. In all, life is hard and you are in a wrong place or wrong role. Figuring out what you actually want will help you getting a clear idea of your options that are best for you.
5. I am meant to be an entrepreneur
Defining your values and finding your path is crucial. There are many ways to make big in life and one of them is entrepreneurship. Finding which path will work for you is hard and it requires a lot of hard work and patience. Once you come across that road the results are the sweetest.
